My name is E. “Jim” Thompson.  My wife and I founded Thompson’s LLC. www.thompsonsllc.com

  The initial purpose of our business was to provide a structure to promote the Thompson Shower Protector, www.showerprotector.com . Since its inception in 2004, Thompson’s LLC has added on a web site building service, and now a book publishing section.

I was born and raised in Southern California.  During my high school years, I took all college prep courses and college classes during the summer months, at the local Community College.  Early on, I had aspirations of becoming a lawyer, but my college years were cut short when I joined the U.S. Army in 1955.

I spent one year here in the states, and then two years in Darmstadt Germany during the Cold War of 1956-1958. (Sometimes the only thing cold was the temerature - politically, and militarily , it got pretty hot at times. ) After that I was in the inactive reserves for another 5 years.

 During my tour of duty, I was trained in specialized math, which was required to operate the atomic 8 inch Howitzer.  My job description, (MOS), was Operations/ Intelligence specialist.  I worked as the Battalion Fire Direction Control NCO, taught hand-to-hand combat, and was also the BN. TI&E NCO, (Training, Information and Education, NCO) . I also instructed others in the math calculations we needed.

After the army, I came home and met my wife – cruising through the drive-in, (which we did that a lot in the 1950’s.)  We were married that year and today, after 52 years of marriage, have 4 children, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. 

My primary occupations during my life have been in the advertising field, sales of various products, such as calculators and typewriters, and General Building Contractor.  I have done many other jobs in life, and pretty much consider myself a “Jack of all Trades”, being self taught in most everything.

My wife, was born in Kansas, but raised in the San Joaquin Valley of California. She has worked primarily in the elderly care field, and as office manager of an upscale music festival as well as bookkeeper for all of our businesses. She was also very involved with an industry employing the handicapped for years. Like me, she has a wide and varied job resume. Today, she also is the family genealogist and has been for many years.
